Burnside Avenue and Holm Gardens Residents Association

There were petitions drew up some time ago to close three lanes in the area running from the new car park area in Burnside Avenue through to Holm Gardens( at the rear of 35-39 Holm Gardens). The petitions were then sent to the North Lanarkshire Council, however, this is proving to be a very lengthy and drawn out process, but hopefully there will be some positive results coming our way very soon.

North Lanarkshire Council are only responsible for one of the lanes, the other two lanes responsibilities lie with the residents of the new estate. With regards to these two lanes, Hacking & Paterson (Factors) would be able to deal with all administration work including following through the closure of the lanes, at no extra cost to the annual management fee already paid.

However, all other costs involved would be split 34 ways, to give you an indication of what this may be, we would pay a planning fee of £290 per lane, after this we would have to pay £1200 for a stopping up order, we are led to believe that if the closure comes down to Anti-Social behaviour the council would then incur the second cost.

We would urge that everybody attends the next Tennants & Residents meeting which will be held on the 23rd of February at 7.00pm in the Frank Ferguson Centre, at this meeting we can then discuss the matter and make a decision on wether to go ahead with trying to close the lanes or keep them open. We will contact North Lanarkshire Council to find out if anybody from planning could come along to help us out with any queries we may have. Your support on this matter would be greatly appreciated.
