On Saturday 11 August, Summerlee Museum in Coatbridge is hosting a new event to mark the end of the London 2012 games.
In a light-hearted day of family fun, the museum invites one and all to come along and 'Go for Gold' with their sports and activities.
Main events run from 12 noon to 4pm and include the javelin; high jump; speed challenge; standing long-jump and shot-putt. Coaches from North Lanarkshire Leisure will be on hand to advise and assist less experienced participants.
An entry fee of £2.00, payable at Summerlee's shop, covers all the main events. Sumo-wrestling, trampolines, inflatable assault-course, giant slide and Olympic-themed children's crafts have a charge of £1.00.
Free events include soft-play fun; giant games; hula-hoops; stilts and traditional games. These events will be open from 10am to 5pm.
Museums' manager Laura Eales said: "This fun event is open to all, to matter what their level of ability..! In a great mix of both fun and sports-themed events, everyone can try for their very own 'personal best'. No booking is required, just sign in at the Summerlee reception desk on arrival. To help the less-experienced, we'll have coaches from NL Leisure on hand to ensure everyone gets the best from their efforts. It's a great-value day out for all and a fun way to end the school holidays!"
