A 21 year old man suffered a horrendous attack in Viewpark during the early hours of Saturday morning.
The incident took place on Old Edinburgh Road, close to the Blue Triangle, between 1am and 1.30am.
The man was making his way home via the footpath and was approached by a gang of around 5 males. This group assaulted the victim by attacking him with a bottle.
The noise caused by the disturbance awoke neighbouring residents who witnessed the assault. The assailants then fled in different directions and police were unable to locate them, despite being quickly on the scene.
The victim suffered a cut to his head and required to attend Monklands Hospital for treatment. This attack could have had more serious implications had the residents not witnessed the assault.
Strathclyde Police are appealing for witnesses to the incident and would be grateful for information in relation to the identity of any of the men involved. You can contact Bellshill Police Office on (01698) 202400 or alternatively call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
